Here's a list: 1. the "light" may be off but that's only because the dimmer is all the way down. The switch is most likely correct. 2. The screws! aahhhh!! yes they should all be going the same direction. Vertical would be the most acceptable because it flows with the switch itself but horizontal is also OK. Diagonal is just wrong. lol And 3. FIVE SINGLE BOXES?!?!? What electrician does that? I would have done a three and a two myself. Depending what they switch even a four and a single might have worked but five singles just looks like crap.
