A major announcement from President Trump’s FBI reveals a significant arrest resulting in an 18-month federal prison sentence for Kevin Dominguez, a 26-year-old from Katy, Texas, convicted of striking a U.S. Border Patrol agent.
According to official reports, the incident took place on August 1, 2023, at a Border Patrol checkpoint on U.S. Highway 57. Dominguez drove toward the checkpoint, where a trained canine alerted the agents to suspicious activity in his vehicle. Upon investigation, agents discovered an individual hidden in the trunk of his sedan.
Instead of cooperating, Dominguez reversed abruptly, hitting an agent before speeding away. This action led to a high-speed pursuit, during which a USBP helicopter spotted two people fleeing the car into a nearby field. Authorities quickly located one individual, who was identified as an undocumented noncitizen from Honduras.
Dominguez was indicted on two charges on September 13, 2023, and arrested the following day. He pleaded guilty on January 24, 2024, resulting in the recent sentencing to 18 months in prison.
This case highlights ongoing efforts to maintain security at the U.S. borders and protect law enforcement personnel. For more detailed information on border security, visit the Department of Homeland Security's official site.
