Police arrest in Florida for bomb threat against Trump

Police in Florida have arrested a man for allegedly threatening to kill President Donald Trump with a nuclear bomb during a recorded 9-1-1 call, according to reports. Justin Blaxton, a resident of Loxahatchee, Florida, identified himself as “Justin Blaze” during the call made on February 26. In his alarming message, Blaxton repeatedly stated his intention to assassinate the president, claiming to be a revenge-driven Confederate soldier who had hacked into missile silos and was preparing to launch bombs to destroy New York.

According to a probable cause affidavit filed by the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office (PBSO), Blaxton also said, “My missiles are attracted to Donald Trump’s towers,” and expressed his desire for a ride to the airport so he could carry out his plan at the White House. Further statements in the call included threats to “burn some houses down” and a chilling declaration: “I’m a mass murderer, come and get me.”

Blaxton has been charged with threatening to use a destructive device, making a false report of a bomb or explosion, and making a false 9-1-1 call. His bond has been set at $35,000, and he made his first court appearance on Wednesday. Authorities have noted that Blaxton has an extensive history of mental illness, and a former U.S. Secret Service agent described his calls as “probably the idle rant of somebody who’s mentally deranged.”

This incident adds to a series of previous near-assassination attempts against Trump, including an attack at a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, and a thwarted attempt at a golf course in Palm Beach, Florida. The ongoing concerns about threats against the president continue to fuel debates over national security and the effectiveness of protective measures.
