🔥Helicopter Crashes in Flames on Popular Aussie Island—Pilot Injured, Tourists Shaken

Visitors to K'gari—formerly known as Fraser Island off the coast of Queensland—were left stunned Friday afternoon after a helicopter crash near Moon Point ended in flames. The pilot, a man in his 50s, miraculously survived the impact and was pulled from the burning wreckage with injuries to his head, face, arm, hip, and leg.

The crash occurred around 12:35 p.m., prompting a rapid emergency response. A LifeFlight rescue helicopter landed on the beach to provide critical aid. Fortunately, the pilot was the only person onboard and is now listed in stable condition.

Queensland Ambulance Service confirmed the pilot would be flown to the mainland for further treatment. “He was able to exit the helicopter before crews arrived,” a spokesperson stated, emphasizing how lucky he was to escape the fiery wreckage.

Beachgoers narrowly avoided disaster. Mark Davies, a witness on the beach, said, “He flew right over us. It sounded like he was low on fuel… then he just hit the deck.” Davies, who had just returned from a tour, said the aircraft missed the group by only 50 meters.

“If he’d hit any closer, I’d have been diving out of the way,” he recalled. “He was thrown out of the aircraft. There was a lot of heat and fumes.”
