Another Hollywood legend is leaving the U.S., and this time, it’s Richard Gere.
According to PEOPLE, the beloved actor has sold his Connecticut estate for $10.75 million — a subtle but symbolic step toward his next big move: a new life in Spain. Gere, now 75, has been a household name for decades, but his latest decision shows that even legends need change.
The property — originally owned by Paul Simon and Edie Brickell — spans 32 acres and features a main house with six bedrooms and 11 bathrooms, a guest cottage, a pool, and lush gardens. Gere bought the estate in 2022 for $10.8 million and briefly considered turning it into a farm with his wife, Alejandra Silva.
Now, with the sale finalized, the couple is planning their relocation to Madrid, Spain — a move driven by Silva’s desire to be closer to her family. Gere called it a “great adventure” for their young sons, Alexander (5) and James (4), as well as Silva’s son Albert (11).
In a heartfelt interview with Vanity Fair Spain, Gere said, “It’s important for my wife to feel at home — to be near friends and culture she grew up with.”
For fans, the move feels like the end of an era. But for Gere, it’s a new beginning — and one that reflects a quiet wisdom few celebrities dare to follow.
