A Quiet Voice in the Conservative Movement Has Gone Silent
It is with deep sadness that the conservative community says goodbye to one of its most passionate voices: Jeff Dunetz. A beloved conservative blogger, commentator, and historian of Israeli politics, Jeff passed away peacefully after a prolonged battle with health issues. He was 67.
Jeff wasn’t just a man with opinions — he was a movement unto himself.
From the early days of conservative blogging in the 2010s, Dunetz helped shape the digital battlefield. His website, The Lid Blog, became a staple of right-leaning political commentary. Bold, factual, and fearless — Jeff's work reached thousands daily and earned him spots on TV, radio, podcasts, and national platforms like Breitbart, MRCTV, PJ Media, and the Washington Times.
But Jeff's strength wasn’t only in politics. It was in people.
A proud New Yorker with an unmistakable wit, Jeff remained full of life even while battling illness. Colleagues recall his ability to make jokes at his own expense — never bitter, always insightful.
He was more than a writer. He was a fighter for truth.
Jeff’s academic roots were strong: a political science degree from the University of Albany and an MBA from Hofstra. He worked with publishing giants like Disney, Nickelodeon, MTV, and Marvel. But it was through writing that Jeff found his purpose — speaking up for America, liberty, and Israel.
He is survived by his beloved wife Lois, his children Perry and Alexa, and his cherished grandson Benjamin.
Breitbart’s Joel Pollak remembered him best:
“Jeff was a warrior in the early days of conservative new media... a devoted friend and ally to all who care about America, liberty, and Israel.”
Others who knew him echoed that grief:
“We adored him... His loss is immense to our community.”
“He fought the good fight... finished the race... kept the faith.”
“A true original whose wit and brilliance we shall never forget.”
To his readers, Jeff was more than a blogger.
He was a teacher. A mentor. A digital soldier who never backed down.
We lost a patriot. A friend. A voice that will echo in eternity.
🕊 Rest in Peace, Jeff Dunetz. You were one of the good ones.
