Brandon Blackstock’s Official Cause of Death Confirmed — What Really Happened to Kelly Clarkson’s Ex-Husband

Brandon Blackstock, music manager and ex-husband of Kelly Clarkson, passed away on August 7 at the age of 48 after a private, three-year battle with melanoma.

Brandon died peacefully at his Montana home under hospice care, surrounded by his loved ones. He had relocated to Montana after his diagnosis, spending his remaining years on his beloved ranch while staying active in the rodeo scene.

Kelly Clarkson, who shares two children with Brandon, kept his health struggles private to protect their family. Friends say she was devastated when his health took a turn earlier this year. In March, she quietly stepped back from The Kelly Clarkson Show and postponed her Las Vegas performances to be with her family.

Tributes poured in from family. His eldest son, Seth, called Brandon his “hero and best friend” in a heartfelt Instagram post, reminiscing about hunting, fishing, and ranch work together, and expressing hope to “fish with him again someday.”

Country legend Reba McEntire, Brandon’s former stepmother, was seen reuniting with the family earlier this year, taking them to the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo in March.

Brandon’s brother, Shelby, remembered him as “funny, bright, and full of life,” vowing to keep his memory alive and cherishing the moments they shared. The family has asked for privacy during this difficult time.

Rest in peace, Brandon Blackstock — your love and laughter will never be forgotten.
