The Newsmax family is in mourning after the shocking death of veteran makeup artist Travis Renee Baldwin, 57, who was tragically killed inside her Arlington, Virginia apartment.
Baldwin, who had worked with Greta Van Susteren for three and a half years — and previously held positions at ABC and ESPN — was remembered as a kind, trusted friend and colleague.
“What sadness….my Newsmax make up artist of 3 1/2 years, and years at @ABC @espn etc and a friend to all of her colleagues…was murdered over the weekend,” Van Susteren wrote on X. “She did my make up Friday for the show and of course I never dreamed that would be the last time I would see her…”
According to police, Baldwin was allegedly shot by her 27-year-old son, Logan Chrisinger, just before 8:30 a.m. on Sunday. She was rushed to the hospital but did not survive. Chrisinger remained at the scene and has been charged with first-degree murder, aggravated malicious wounding, and using a firearm in the commission of a felony. He is being held without bond.
Remembering Renee Baldwin
Colleagues described Baldwin as “a giving heart and a quiet warrior,” someone who supported her family tirelessly while always asking others how they were doing. Newsmax White House producer Marisela Ramirez called her “Heaven’s newest angel” and said her laughter, kindness, and motherly presence will never be forgotten.
Crime Concerns Across America
The tragedy has also reignited debate about the rise in violent crime across America’s cities. A 2023 report by the U.S. Bureau of Justice Statistics found that workplace homicides have risen 30% since 2019. Critics argue lenient sentencing, police budget cuts, and weak enforcement policies have fueled a dangerous climate where tragedies like this are becoming more common.
As Baldwin’s family, colleagues, and friends grieve, many are calling for justice — and for stronger action to prevent these senseless losses.
