Disturbing Minnesota Case Ends in Nearly 39-Year Prison Sentence

A Crow Wing County courtroom heard one of the most shocking child abuse cases in recent memory — and the details are deeply disturbing.

35-year-old Jorden Nicole Borders, a mother of three, was convicted in June 2025 on 11 counts, including attempted first-degree murder, three counts of child torture, three counts of stalking, and four counts of theft by false representation.

Prosecutors revealed that Borders repeatedly drained blood from her 9-year-old son using syringes or his central line before doctor visits. She then forced his siblings to flush the blood down the toilet, causing dangerous drops in his hemoglobin and repeated hospitalizations.

But the abuse didn’t end there — she also falsely diagnosed her children with conditions like brittle bone disease, forcing them to wear casts, boots, and neck braces for months or years despite having no injuries. One child spent more than two years in a cast.

Authorities say Borders exploited these fabricated medical needs to obtain more than $18,000 in state aid and $35,000 from nonprofits.

In a sentencing that stunned even veteran court watchers, Borders was ordered to serve nearly 39 years in prison. For many, this sentence is a long-overdue moment of justice for the children who endured years of calculated cruelty.
